FOOD MENUS
Nutrition Tip of the Month

Choose fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are like hitting the jackpot when it comes to nutrition. They make your plate more colorful and they're packed with vitamins and fiber. It's a good idea to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day, so try to fit in one or two at lunch. A serving isn't a lot. A serving of carrots is ½ cup or about 6 baby carrots. A fruit serving could be one medium orange.

Canton Central School District’s School Meals Meet Tough New Nutrition Standards

As Canton Central School students return to school this fall, they’ll find healthy choices in their school cafeterias.

We will be serving school meals that meet tough federal nutrition standards, ensuring that meals are healthy, well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school.

School meals offer students milk, fruits and vegetables, proteins and grains, and they must meet strict limits for saturated fat and portion size. Starting this fall, school lunches will meet additional standards. We’re always working to offer our students healthier and tastier choices. In addition to meeting new nutrition standards, we’re also offering locally grown foods and foods from our very own School Garden.
